Blanche began singing onstage at the age of five, sitting in with jazz musicians at the family club on Clark Street. At nineteen it was blues rock, on Chicago.'s south side. As co-leader of Phil 'n' the Blanks, albums reached Top 10 on Cashbox charts, videos made rotation on MTV and crowds formed around the block for many years to see her perfrom. In Los Angeles, she founded alternative groups, Vibe Tribe and Paisley Blacke and played the Sunset Strip.
Blanche now emerges after many years of haitus from the music scene. Turned on by Chicago's great jazz artists, she is inspired and fired up. Composing, singing and producing original jazz, Blanche is proud to present her new CD "Out To Sea".
At once a collection of bitter-sweet longing, a jaded glance at men's insincerity and the darkness of lonely, Out to Sea connects repeatedly with Blanche Blacke's soulful heart, voice and spirituality. Recorded at Dr. Caw Recording, and engineered by Craig Williams, the project coalesced with the help of an esteemed group of musicians who give the album a genuine band feel. They include John Moulder on guitar, Rob Kassinger on bass, Jon Deitemyer on drums, Steve Eisen on saxophone, flute and congas and the great Bobby Lewis on trumpet and flugelhorn.
Back in Chicago, loving jazz and with new inspiration, songs keep on coming. Vibrant performer and prolific songwriter, she is happy to showcase this new work at the Jazz Showcase and other venues. Blessed to be supported by some of Chicago's most talented and accomplished jazz musicians, she is ready to take to the stage and perform live...Classic jazz with an alternaive edge.
